What Makes You Run is a project inspired by the This I Believe project. I see this turning into a collection of works that explain many reasons why people run. Anyone can create a page and I encourage you to do one yourself. Express yourself in whatever way you see fit from a written essay, to a poem, to a photo essay. The "rules" are simple.

  1. Keep it short. Aim for 3 to 5 minutes. If you're writing an essay, this is about 350 to 650 words.
  2. Stay focused. You should be able to sum it up in a single sentence. It is better to focus on one strongly held reason than to try to provide a broad overview.
  3. It should be personal. We all know the general health reasons for running. Why are these important to you?
  4. It should be positive. Please avoid preaching or editorializing. Tell us what makes you run. Avoid speaking in the editorial "we." Make your contribution about you; speak in the first person.

Tell the world what makes you run!
